TAPIOLA -- South Range and Tapiola staged big rallies late in Over 50 Softball League play Thursday.
South Range scored 12 times in the sixth inning on the way to a 19-7 win over previously unbeaten Houghton.
Dick Franti cracked out four hits for 2-2 Range and Brien Ricci had three more. Glenn Mitchell, Greg Tchida and Ed Hartel added two each.
Kevin Tormala banged out four hits for 3-1 Houghton, with Jim Perrin and Nick Lindemann chipping in three.
Joe Rossi was the winner, with Steve Dunstan taking the loss.
Tapiola scored six times and held on for a 7-6 win to improve to 3-1 for the season. Pete Oikarinen laced three hits, while winning pitcher Jed Denomie and Den Salbashian added two raps each.
Chassell, 0-4, was paced by three hits apiece from Daryl Putala and losing chucker Mitch Lake. Brian Turner, John Botto, Lindemann and Mike Drewyor all counted two raps for the losers.
