August 2, 2013
The Daily Mining Gazette

WATTON - Authorities in the Western Upper Peninsula are continuing their search for two suspects in an apparent home invasion and armed robbery. The incident happened at around 8 p.m. Thursday night in a home on M-28 in the Watton area of Baraga County's Covington Township. State Police at Calumet said that two white males, both described as having dark complexions forced their way into the home. Witness reports indicate the men initially said they were federal agents and had demanded ransom money from the victims.

The men fled after allegedly stealing wallets, identification and other documents, and a handgun. They were last seen driving a white Caddilac Escalade EXT pickup. No injuries were reported. Troopers were assisted by the Baraga County Sheriff's Department. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Michigan State Police at 337-5145 or 866-411-0018.
