Joann Shimandle Kehoe

EAGLE RIVER - Joann passed away August 7, 2013, at her home in Eagle River.

Joann was born April 26, 1937, in Osceola to Joseph and Anne Shimandle. She graduated from Calumet High School in 1955 and attended Suomi College. She married Max Terrill, who was stationed at the Calumet Air Force Base in 1956 and moved to Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Max.

She married Thomas Kehoe September 1973 in Illinois. Joann and Tom were about to celebrate their 40th anniversary. They loved traveling together, enjoyed dinner out with friends and car races.

Joann was head cashier and bookkeeper for Eagle Supermarkets in Illinois for 36 years. She retired from Eagles to help care for her brother James Shimandle from Eagle River. She and Tom moved back to Eagle River in 2000 upon retirement.

Joann was very loved by her family and friends. She was a founding member of the National Organization for Woman in Illinois, and she belonged to the American Business Women's Association and later The Red Hat Ladies. She loved berry picking, walking the beach, bingo, bus trips to casinos and spending time with her special friends Mary Jo, Gerda and Nancy. She also enjoyed her monthly 1955 class "get together". She was a member of Keweenaw Catholic Mission.

Survivors include beloved husband, Thomas; daughter, Barbara Gregory; granddaughters, Amy and Krista Gregory from Illinois; five great- grandchildren; her brother, Joseph Shimandle of Laurium; sisters, Carol Oshesky of Oregon and Patricia Probstfeld of Portage.

She was preceded in death by her brother, James Shimandle and her parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 9, in the Ryan Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 10 in St. Paul the Apostle Church with Rev. Fr. Abraham Mupparathara to officiate.

Memorials may be made to the Hope Lodge in Marshfield, Wis. in Joann's name.
