QUINCY HILL - Robert T. Rule, 76, a resident of Franklin Township, passed away Monday afternoon, Aug. 5, 2013, at home following a long illness.
He was born May 23, 1937, in Hancock, a son of the late William and Violet Rule. He attended local schools and received his GED in the 1990s.
Mr. Rule was a veteran, having served with the United States Army as a Medic/Sharp Shooter during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Rule was a carpenter and mechanic, working for various companies in the area before becoming the director for the Houghton County Transit.
Bob enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. He was also a Red Wings hockey fan.
Preceding him in death were his father and step-mother, William and Florence Rule; his mother and step-father, Violet and Wally Koski; his sister and brother-in-law Janet and Eddie Raffaelli; his brother, Fred Rule; his step-daughter, Susan Hannula; his hunting partner and best friend, Joe Karry.
Surviving are his partner, Maria Moore of Franklin Township; his children, Robert "Rukka" (Shelly) Rule of Hubbell, Kym Rule of Hancock, Gregory "Belmo" (JoAnn) Rule of Lake Linden and Kaye Ann (Craig) Koskela of Lake Linden. His grandchildren, Kallista and Eric Weijola, Thomas, Holly and Cody Crouch and Kortni Rule and Clay Hixson; great granddaughters, Ariana, Haily and Alison; his brother, Donald (Sally) Rule of Hancock; sister, Judy Childress of Antigo, Wis.; sister-in-law, Mary Rule of Ft. Meyers, Fla. His step-children, Cheryl (Greg) Dostal of Midland, Mich. and Edward Wiideman of Bloomfield, N.M.; his former wives, Phyllis (Dave) Adamson of Hancock and Jean Butler of Hubbell; his fishing partner, Mike "Rozzy" Rozman of Rice Lake; several nieces, nephews and cousins and special cousin, Laurie Stromer,
A memorial service for Bob will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12 in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock with Rev. Amy Terhune to officiate. Burial at a later time will be held in the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.
Friends may call on Monday from noon until time of services in the funeral home.
