IRON RIVER - Four Calumet Copper Kings had at least six kills apiece as the visitors strolled to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-15) win over West Iron County in both sides' WestPAC volleyball opener.

Lexie Rowe had 10 kills for the Copper Kings in the rematch of last November's Class C regional final. Ellen Twardzik, Pam Torola and Loretta Anderson posted six kills apiece.

Terilynne Budreau distributed 28 assists.

Calumet also challenged the Wykons from the service line, with Torola serving up five aces and Rowe four.

Defensively, Megan Yeo had a team-best 16 digs, while Torola continued her solid all-around game with 14 digs.

"Our players served and passed the ball well. I thought for the most part we played in system but there still is hesitation when we are out of system. Improving communication will help," Calumet coach Lisa Twardzik said.

The Copper Kings are off until their home opener Sept. 12 against Chassell.
