KOCHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Saginaw Valley State University has decided to raise tuition 3.2 percent for the coming academic year.

The university's Board of Control voted Monday to set tuition as part of a $119.6 million general fund budget. The campus is about 7 miles north of Saginaw in Saginaw County's Kochville Township.

The university says an in-state undergraduate taking a full two-semester course load of 30 credit hours will pay $8,691 in tuition and mandatory fees. That's up from $8,422 in 2013-14.

On Friday, Northern Michigan University's Board of Trustees also approved a 3.2 percent increase in tuition and fees for the 2014-15 school year. In-state undergraduates attending the Marquette school fulltime will pay $9,385, up from $9,094 in the previous year.
