PORT HURON, Mich. - John Matthew Perander, 64 of Walled Lake Michigan died Thursday, September 12, 2013 at St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron.
Born February 6, 1949 in Pentland Twp. Mich. and adopted at birth, he was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Olga Perander and father, Uno Perander of Chassell.
A master plumber by trade, his favorite pastime was golfing and watching hockey (especially games of his favorite team the Detroit Red Wings).
Dedicated to his family and friends, he was the guy everyone knew they could count on for support, whether that meant fixing a late night plumbing issue or providing a shoulder to cry on and a friend to talk to. Known as an honest and caring person by those who's lives he's touched, he leaves behind many friends and family members who miss him dearly.
He is survived by his two children, John Thomas (Angela) Perander, of Marine City, Mich., and Rebecca Perander, of Redford Township, Mich.; his grandchildren, Sebastian, Jared, Kaya and Cyrus; his two brothers, Jim (Margaret) Perander of Chassell and Bruce Perander of Britt, Minn.; and his two sisters, Jean (Dennis) Lindgren of Rhinelander, Wis. and Jane (Dennis) Kangas of Appleton, Wis. He is also survived by his aunt, Tina (Dick) Dickerson of California and many cousins.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, in the Smith Family Funeral Home - North 1525 Hancock Street with The Rev. Max Amstutz officiating.
There will also be visitation on Saturday, September 28 beginning at 10 a.m.
