Corrine M. Wainio

ATLANTIC MINE - Corrine M. Wainio, 92, of Atlantic Mine, died on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at the Omega House.

She was born in Trimountain, on April 21, 1921, a daughter of the late Albert and Amanda (Luukkonen) Jaasko. She grew up in Trimountain and attended the Jeffers High School.

Corrine lived for a short time in Detroit. On November 23, 1940, she married John Wainio in Toledo, Ohio. The couple lived most of their married life in Painesdale. John passed away on June 29, 1996.

Corrine also lived at Heritage Manor in Houghton, and for the last five years, resided in Atlantic Mine with her daughter, Darlene and son-in-law, Clarence.

Corrine worked for a period of time doing home health care and office cleaning, but primarily was a homemaker, providing a warm and loving home to raise her family. She loved music and sang in barn dances. She also enjoyed cooking, working crossword puzzles and loved nature.

Surviving are four daughters, Karen (Louis) Ciucci of Minnesota, Carol (Larry) Tucker of Missouri, Wendy (Brian) Heissenberger of Lower Michigan, and Darlene (Clarence) Lahti of Atlantic Mine; five grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Bonneau; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Corrine was also preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Wilbert Jaasko; and two sisters, Lillian Wainio and Helen Stasil.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2013, in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery with Pastor Bucky Beach to officiate.

Arrangements are being handled by the Mountain View Mortuary in South Range, Antila Funeral Service, Inc.
