HANCOCK - Finlandia University announced the full-time hiring of Terry Klemett as head women's basketball coach Monday.
Klemett comes to Finlandia after serving the past three years as an assistant men's basketball coach from 2010-2013 at Michigan Tech under Head coach Kevin Luke. During his time at Michigan Tech, Klemett assisted the team to three straight winning seasons, two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Conference titles, and a berth in the 2013 NCAA D-II Tournament.
Additionally to and prior to his time at Michigan Tech, Klemett was instrumental in helping develop youth, elementary and junior high basketball programs within the Adams Township School district beginning in 2009. Coach Klemett also spent one season while playing oversees spearheading the Forrsan Koripojat women's basketball team in Forssa Finland as head women's basketball Coach from 2006-07. There he helped lead the team to a Division I qualification for the first time in 15 years, with a 15-8 record.

"Coach Klemett brings an extensive knowledge of the sport and perhaps an unparalleled work ethic when it comes to the sport of basketball itself." "He is recognized not only locally but regionally as a 'to-go-to' basketball individual, and we'll look to him with his extensive basketball network to help identify exceptional student-athlete recruits for the future, as well as providing the additional discipline, support and structure our women's program will continue to need as we align opportunities strategically for women's basketball and our athletics program."
As a player, Klemett played locally at Jeffers prior to moving on and playing two years at Gogebic Community College. He then continued his education and playing career at NAIA power Evangel University in Springfield, Mo. In 2001, Terry embarked on a nine-year professional playing career that took him overseas.
