October 9, 2013
The Daily Mining Gazette

CALUMET - Benjamin Schoolcraft Blaksley joined his parents Eugene Joseph Blaksley and Virginia Mae Tikkinen as well as longtime friend, Donald Elander (Gebada) on September 3, 2013, at the age of 40.

Benjamin was born on May 9, 1973, in Grand Haven, Mich., and raised in Calumet. He attended the Calumet area schools and worked for many local contracting companies.

He was a funny, kind spoken individual who had a particular way with words. Benjamin left millions of footprints and hammer swings throughout Michigan and many other states. He will never be forgotten and still is one of the most brilliant men we will ever come across in this lifetime. He was a thinker, a lover, and a caring father. He was a fan of nature and music.

Surviving are his children, Benjamin Alan Grant Blaksley, Jesse Schoolcraft Blaksley and Samantha Sue Ellen Blaksley; two grandsons, Roger Alan Eugene Schoolcraft Blaksley and Haiden Lawrence Schoolcraft Blaksley; wife and life partner, Nancy Aleda Balowaara of Calumet; brothers, James Blaksley of Calumet, Robert Blaksley of Oregon and Ted T. Blaksley of Louisiana; numerous aunts and uncles; nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as countless friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Erickson-Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Pastor Bob White to officiate.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Online condolences may be left for the family at ericksoncrowleypeterson. com.
