Betty A. Lane-Cross

LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Betty A. Lane-Cross, 80, a resident of Lakewood, Colo., and former resident of Houghton and Chassell, passed away on October 8, 2013, at Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge, Colo.

Betty was born on June 28, 1933, in Dodgeville, a daughter of Arvid Hiltunen and Sylvia Kilpela Hiltunen. She was a graduate of the Houghton High School. Following graduation Betty was employed at the Houghton County Probate Office and worked with Joseph M. Donnelly, Judge of Probate for several years. Later she was an executive secretary at Houghton National Bank, working for Frank C. Potter, Vice President and Dr. Grover C. Dillman, President of Houghton National Bank. Having spent many years in the area she remembers with fondness her special relatives and friends.

Betty is and has been a member of the Applewood Valley United Methodist Church in Golden, Colo.

In 1959 Betty married William Harold Lane of Dearborn, a Michigan Technological University graduate, who preceded her in death in 1994. Later she married Robert L. Cross and together they enjoyed happy occasions with his three daughters and four grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was Robert L. Cross in 2001 and her sister, Sandra Joanne Hiltunen.

Surviving are her children, Terre A. Lane of Lakewood, Colo.; Kathryn Lane Dunnington (Edward) of Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Michael S. (Kristine) Lane of Lakewood, Colo.; her granddaughters, Cassondra Brown Coleman (C.J.); and great grandson, Gavyn; granddaughters, Kelsey Lane, Samantha Lane and Miranda Lane; three grandsons, David Brown, Michael Brown, and Mason Lane; as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. She will be missed dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at the Applewood Valley United Methodist Church in Golden, Colo., with Pastor Michelle Lee officiating.

Burial and a family gathering and small service will be held in the Chassell Cemetery in Chassell, to be determined in the summer of 2014.
