To the editor:
Saturday, October 4th dawned rainy, windy and chilly daunting for some but not for loyal fans of the Omega House 2nd Annual Hike for the House, presented by Portage Health. Hikers who showed up at Michigan Tech Trails completed either a 2.5K, 5K or 10K walk.
This annual event to benefit Omega House would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, volunteers and hikers. Proceeds from this year's Hike, after expenses, brought in more than $7,000, and will help ensure the continued delivery of our compassionate care to anyone in need.
We want to thank our sponsors Portage Health, Aspirus Keweenaw, BlueSky Health, Bohemia Printing, Portage Home Health & Hospice, Aspirus Keweenaw Home Health & Hospice, Jonathan and Sandra Henkel, Donors in Honor of Portage Health Cardiopulmonay Rehabilitation, Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, Range Bank, ThermoAnalytics, and Upper Peninsula Power Co (UPPCO). In-kind sponsors include A-1 ToyLets, Michigan Tech Athletics and Recreation, Michigan Tech First Responders, Econo Foods, Pat's Foods in Calumet and xmatic.
Finally, we want to thank our volunteers who helped with planning efforts and on the trails.
They include: Michigan Tech Pre-Health Association students: Taija Hahka, Madison Brooks, Rachell DeBenedetti, Courtney DeCramer, Thomas Dixon, Claire Eischer, Hanna Marti, Mike Rosati, Alyssa Vinckler and Maddi Wohlfeil; and Portage Health volunteers Joan Rundman, Greg Scharf and Rhiannon Schmitt.
