The Daily Mining Gazette

AURORA, Ill. The Michigan Tech volleyball team wrapped up play at the sixth annual GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament on Saturday with a 3-1 win over Illinois Springfield from the Great Lakes Center. The Huskies won with set scores 25-16, 25-19, 10-25 and 25-16 and improve to 9-14 overall.

"Today was just about a 180-degree difference from yesterday," Tech coach Matt Jennings said. "While we slipped up in the third, the three sets we won were very balanced and well executed."

Kendall Ward had a monster match for the Huskies with 21 kills while hitting a .439 attack percentage. Sylvie Rokosh added 10 kills for the Black and Gold.

"Kendall absolutely dominated for most of the match on the outside and Sylvie controlled the middle," Jennings said.

Madeline Haben set up the offense with 37 assists on the day and added a team-high 15 digs. Rachel Pohlod had 11 digs and seven service aces while Jacqueline Aird tallied 12 digs.

"Jackie was great from start to finish," added Jennings. "I'm also proud of Maddie and Jordanna Kero and the way they brought their game and leadership onto the court today."
