HOUGHTON - Starting today, voters can help send Mount Bohemia to the Final Four of a continental competition.
After three rounds, the resort has advanced to the Elite Eight of Powder Magazine's 2014 Ski Town Throwdown, a March Madness-style bracket pitting the top 64 natural powder and ski slopes in the U.S. and Canada against each other.
In the Big East finals, top seed Mount Bohemia is squaring off against the Vermont resort Mad River Glen. Bohemia previously toppled Mont Tremblant (Quebec), Whiteface (New York) and Sugarbush (Vermont). Voting takes place today and Tuesday.

If it wins, Bohemia advances to the Final Four against Alaska's Eaglecrest Ski Area from Dec. 2-3. A week-long vote from Dec. 9-16 will determine the champion.
Mt. Bohemia president Lonie Glieberman said Bohemia has a loyal and passionate fanbase, helped by the excellent powder conditions driven by lake-effect snow.
"We're talking about resorts that are getting close to 1 million visitors a year," he said. "For Mount Bohemia to beat out resorts with enormous customer bases speaks loudly to the loyalty, dedication and passion of the Mount Bohemia skiers and riders."
Glieberman said the competition can also bring national recognition to the area.
"We think it's a positive thing that this contest, through Mount Bohemia, is expanding awareness to thousands of people around the country to the Keweenaw Peninsula, and that it's a major outdoor recreation destination," he said.
