Local businesses helped museum

November 29, 2013
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

The Carnegie Museum in downtown Houghton would like to thank the following local businesses for their generous corporate sponsorship of our fundraiser, "A Night at the Museum 2013": C.M.Morris Group, Inc., Great Lakes Accounting, State Wide Real Restate of Houghton, Superior National Trust and Financial Services, U.P. Engineers & Architects, Inc., and the Wickley Agency, Inc.

Fabulous food and drink were offered by Armando's, The Library Restaurant, the Lunch Bag, Shelden's Grill, Cyberia Cafe, and the Keweenaw Brewing Company. In between Red Jacket Trolley Company tours tracing the the remains of Houghton's Isle Royale Mine, expertly guided by Erika Vye and Wil Shapton, event-goers were treated to the exceptional talents of musicians Wynter Bethel and Henry Ashburn, and a string quartet of Wonyoung Choi, Ellie Helman, Seth Helman, and Kaaren Liston.

Many people and business contributed goods, services, and time to make our event a success, among them Elena Busova and the Pewabic Street Community Garden, Dale Belanger, the City of Houghton, Frank Fiala and 5th & Elm, Ken and Melena Huffman, Jim's Foodmart, Ben Lilleskov, Erik Lilleskov, Pizzaworks, Nanno Rose, Carrie Dove Storer, Zoe Storer, and Pete Stubbs. Specifically for our Silent Auction, thanks goes to Chip Ransom, Joey's Only Seafood, RPM Secure Self-Storage, Surplus Outlet, Swift's Hardware, and Synergy Massage and Wellness.

All proceeds from our "Night at the Museum" fundraiser benefit the Museum's historic renovation and the development of exhibits and programs. The Board of the Carnegie Museum-Lucinda Enderby, Avis West, Rachel Lankton, Rob Megowen, Bill Rose, Phyllis Johnson, Brita Odegard, Graeleigh Storer-and museum director Elise Nelson extend our sincere appreciation to the entire community for helping further our goal of making the Carnegie Museum a unique attraction, adding interest and vitality to downtown Houghton.
