She was born on November 16, 1945, in Winnebago, Nebraska, the daughter of McClintic W. and Laura L. Huffman.

Because of Jim's active roll as a veteran's advocate, she became very active in support for veterans. She was a life member of the Rangers Post 6165 Auxiliary and served as president, and was the treasurer for many years.

She served two terms as 15th District president. She was a charter life member of the Keweenaw Detachment Marine Corps League Auxiliary. She served as president and in 2007, she was elected State President of the Michigan Marine Corps League Auxiliary and served two years.

Jenness retired from Shopko in 2008. She and Jim began their trips to Arizona to winter at that time.

Jenness is survived by her husband, Jim; daughters, Kym (Thomas) Hummel of Jefferson, South Dakota, Kay Fox and her husband, Dan Gray of Gresham, Oregon; sister, Barb (Ron) Lappi of Dallas, Oregon; grandchildren, Tony (Alica) Hummel of Jefferson, South Dakota, Devin Hummel of Pierre, South Dakota, Brezzy Fox of Estacada, Oregon, Eric Hart of Grand Junction, Colorado, Ian Roberts of Gresham, Oregon; and the love of her life, great-grand baby, Evan Hummel, son of Devin; and several nieces and nephews.

Jenness was a member of the Albert Paine United Methodist Church in Painesdale.

At Jenness' request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held December 3, 2013, at the Arizonian Resort. A visitation with the family present will be held on May 27, 2014, in the Mountain View Mortuary in South Range with times to be announced at a later date.

Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery on May 28, 2014.

Memorials may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW Day of Challenge Program, or the Albert Paine United Methodist Church in memory of Jenness.
