Scott A. Kopke

BOSTON LOCATION -Scott A. Kopke, 55, of Highway Location near Boston, died at his home on Tuesday evening, December 3, 2013, following an apparent heart attack.

He was born in Chamberlain, South Dakota on March 12, 1958 to the late Chadwick Kopke and Shirley (Olsen) Kopke. He graduated from Chamberlain High School.

From 1976 through 1980, Scott served in the U.S. Coast Guard at Station Portage locally. Following his service to our country, he went to work at his parent's Chamberlain, South Dakota Coast-To-Coast Store. He returned to the Copper Country in 1990 to work in Hancock and Houghton hardware stores before going to work for the U.S. Post Office in Calumet as a mail carrier in 1993, where he was employed until his death.

On June 17, 1978 he married Diane Kaipio, with their family making their home in Boston (Highway) Location.

Scott served on the Chamberlain S.D. and Boston Location Fire Departments. He enjoyed being with his family, and dirt biking and four wheeling with his grandson, Anthony.

Besides his father, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Marc. He is survived by his wife, Diane; a daughter, Nicole Kopke of Madison, Wis.; a son, David Kopke of Bemiji, Minn.; grandsons, Anthony and Michael; and by other relatives.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or funeral services. The O'Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock is in charge of the arrangements.
