HOUGHTON - Houghton got a big night from its big guns in a 6-0 win over the Farmington Hills Flyers Friday night at Dee Stadium.

Reid Pietila notched a hat trick for the Gremlins, while Ray Brice had two goals and an assist. Connor Hannon had the other goal for Houghton, now 6-1.

Despite getting outshot 19-5, the Flyers kept it close through the first 17 minutes, trailing only 1-0 on the first Pietila goal, which game just after the five-minute mark of the period.

Hannon and Brice notched their tallies as part of a three-goal second that put Houghton in a commanding 4-0 lead before Pietila finished it off.

Jayson Wiitala earned the shutout, stopping 19 shots. The Gremlins put 57 on the Flyer net, with A.J. Miller making 51 saves.

Houghton hosts Rochester United today at 1 p.m.
