HANCOCK - After ending their losing streak the night before, the Finlandia men's hockey team did one better Saturday, collecting its first win of the season in a 3-0 non-league shutout of Wisconsin-Superior.
The Lions (1-10-1) were outshot nearly 2-to-1, but 40 saves from goaltender Andrew Brownlee, including 18 in the third period along, made a big difference.
Collin Saint-Onge's goal at 3:30 of the first period was the game-winner. After drawing the primary assist on that one, Brandon Passley scored one of his own on a second-period power play to make it 2-0.
Sean Burke added another tally about seven minutes later for a 3-0 lead.
The Lions are off for a holiday break before non-conference games in the Twin Cities against St. Thomas and Bethel Jan. 10-11.
