A fire alarm Thursday brought the Houghton Fire Department to the food court in the Michigan Technological University Memorial Union Building, but it turned out to be much ado about nothing. Fire Chief Mike Reynolds said the department received a call about 2:15 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they learned someone in the building thought he saw smoke and pulled the alarm. Those in the building were evacuated while firefighters searched for a possible fire, but none was found. Firefighters cleared the scene at about 2:40 p.m. and people were let back into the building. Assisting at the scene were officers with the Tech Public Safety Department.
