Thanks from the Barkell PTO

December 23, 2013
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

The Barkell Elementary School PTO would like to thank all of those who helped make our annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, December 7th a huge success! We are so grateful to the students, families, and community members who, along with the faculty and staff of Barkell, gave so generously of both their time and their money. This year, all proceeds from this event are going towards a new playground that is planned to be installed at Barkell Elementary in June 2014.

It was the tremendous effort of the wonderful young people in our community that made this possible. As they've done for countless years, the Brothers of Phi Kappa Tau manned the kitchen, mixing, flipping and serving up pancakes and sausage. The PTO cannot thank these young men enough for their support of our school. They were joined in their efforts by students from the Hancock High School National Honor Society, who assisted in setting up the cafeteria, took tickets, cleaned tables, and helped with various extra activities. It was their hard work that made this event so fun for everyone in attendance. We also want to thank the members of the Barkell Elementary Choir for providing the morning's entertainment and all the students whose artwork decorated the tables and walls in the cafeteria.

A huge thank you to the businesses who contributed so generously to this event: UPPCO, McDonald's, Walmart, Antila Funeral Service, and Book Concern Printers. We treasure your partnership and thank you so much for your support.
