HOUGHTON - Orville A. Stephani, 93, of Houghton, and formerly of Manitowoc, Wis., passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, where he had resided for the past three years.
He was born on March 3, 1920, in Manitowoc, Wis., a son of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Pautz) Stephani. Orville was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Manitowoc with the class of 1938.
Mr. Stephani was a veteran, having served with the Coast Guard during World War II.
On April 26, 1941, he was united in marriage to the former Lucille Brunner and she preceded him in death on April 1, 1999. Since that time Orville has lived in Houghton, and then three years with his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ron Curran.
Orville worked as a machinist for Hamilton Manufacturing in Manitowoc, retiring in 1985.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; his brother and sister-in-law, Arnold (Helen) Stephani; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jane (Walter) Kaufman, Irene (Arland) Matthias, Dave (Agnes) Brunner, Marie (Edmund) Welch, Gerald Brunner and Louis (Marie) Brunner.
Surviving are his children, Sharon (Ron) Curran of Houghton, Edward Stephani of Iron Mountain, Jerry (Mary) Stephani of Brookfield, Wis., Susan (David) Bubb of Manitowoc, Wis., and Mary Prantil of Healdsburg, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At Orville's request, no services will be held and burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc, Wis., at a later date.
