DUNCAN TOWNSHIP - An Illinois man was killed in a two-snowmobile accident Sunday night in Duncan Township.

Jeffrey Vandeneykel, 50, was pronounced dead after arriving at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.

At about 8:15 p.m., he and another Illinois man were traveling west on Trail 8 near Kenton. A deer ran out, causing their two sleds to collide, the Michigan State Police Calumet Post said in a release.

Sonco EMS transported both Vandeneykel and the other driver, who is being treated at BCMH for non-fatal injuries.

The accident is still under investigation.

Bay EMS, Sonco EMS, Bruce Crossing Fire Department and Duncan Township Fire Department assisted on scene.
