L'ANSE The L'Anse girls' basketball team got off and running, recording a high offensive output for the season in an 86-35 non-league win over Lake
The win puts L'Anse at 9-1 at the halfway mark of its season and was 20 points better than the Purple Hornets' already impressive 66-point average.
Lake Linden-Hubbell, keyed by 14 points from Sarah Audette, made a game of it early, but couldn't stop L'Anse from scoring 25, 26 and 24 points in the first three quarters, making up for what L'Anse coach Scott Lloyd called a disappointing start defensively.
"We spread the floor and got the good shots. Defensively, you don't like trading baskets with anyone," he said.
The Hornets had four scorers in double figures, led by Madi Swanson's 17. Kelsey Ross and Maddie Etelamaki scored 13 apiece.
L'Anse plays Thursday at rival Baraga, while LL-H (4-7) is at Hancock the same night.
