The Daily Mining Gazette

RIPLEY - The Houghton/Hancock girls' ski team prevailed in a three-team home meet at Mont Ripley rescheduled to Friday.

In the slalom, the hosts had six of the top seven skiers, led by Jenna Stein. Leslie Hamar was second, Martina Hope Lovaa fourth and Taylor Venegas fifth.

Stein and Hamar also went one-two in GS, with Lovaa fourth and Mary Maroste fifth.

On the boys' side, Jacob Jarvis was the winner in giant slalom for Houghton/Hancock. Isaac Aukee of Ironwood won the slalom. Houghton/Hancock didn't field enough skiers for a full team.
