Rep.’s motives are questioned

February 13, 2014
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

I have to comment on the fact that Rep. Benishek wrote a letter to President Obama asking that he offer emergency contingency funds and federal energy assistance to citizens in Michigan struggling to pay their energy bills. Yes, this is the same "tea party" Dan Benishek who voted against federal aid for the victims of Hurricane Sandy because it was too much big government. Hmmmmmmm. I'm not saying that the emergency assistance isn't needed; it might be necessary, but apparently Federal aid is appropriate only when it benefits Benishek politically.
