HANCOCK - Michael E. Gaither, 56, of Prospect Street in Hancock, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014, at Cypress Manor in Hancock.
He was born on July 27, 1957, in Ypsilanti, Mich., to Charles Eugene and Genevieve Gaither.
Mike graduated from Stockbridge High School in Stockbridge, Mich. He worked at Adair Printing Technologies in Dexter, Mich., for 25 years, starting out as a machinist on the printing press and working up to manager of production control.
He moved to Hancock after meeting Gwen Anderson in 2011. They were engaged in 2012.
Mike loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping and sunsets. He thoroughly enjoyed sports, including his and Gwen's Lions and Packers rivalry. He loved music and attending concerts. He also enjoyed drives to discover the beauty of the Upper Peninsula.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Gaither; and grandmother, Annie Gaither.
He is survived by his mother, Genevieve Gaither; his grandmother, Dorothy Heyer; a brother, Greg Gaither; his uncle, Paul Gaither; and his fiance, Gwen Anderson.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014, in the O'Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock with Rev. Amy Terhune of the First United Methodist Church to officiate.
