LAKE LINDEN - Lake Linden-Hubbell survived a 16-0 Calumet run and gutted out a win Saturday over Calumet, 49-44.
Calumet had the ball looking for a three to tie in the closing seconds, but Konrad Klein stripped the Kings' Paul Torola to preserve the win in front of the home crowd.
"It's huge. We lost a couple of close games and for us to battle back, it puts us in the right frame of mind as we head into March," LL-H coach Jack Kumpula said.

The Lakes (15-3) started off up 9-2, but Calumet (12-6) ran off 16 points in a row in the first half for an 18-9 lead.
LL-H stabilized things, then took the lead in the second half. Shooting 10-of-12 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter helped them protect the edge.
Tyler Roose of the Lakes led all scorers with 16 points. Brett Poissant totaled 12 points and 14 boards. The Lakes host Chassell Tuesday.
Calumet got 15 points from Torola. The Copper Kings play Tuesday at Houghton.

PAINESDALE - Jeffers' precision at the free-throw line ensured it would be a happy Homecoming in a 60-51 Copper Country Conference win over Ontonagon.
Jeffers had only one field goal (a Christopher Outinen three) in the fourth quarter, but Alex Outinen's 12-for-12 performance from the line in the final frame was enough for the Jets to hold on.
"We like having the ball in Alex Outinen's hands. He's a great free-throw shooter and he didn't disappoint," Jeffers coach Duane Snell said.
Trailing by one at halftime, Jeffers went on an 11-0 run to start the second half and led by 10 with a quarter to go. The Gladiators responded with eight straight points to start the fourth but the Jets got the necessary stops, and Alex Outinen scored their last 10 points, all one at a time.
Alex Outinen finished with 20 points, while Brant Ryynanen kicked in 14 and Myles Rajala 10 points and 12 rebounds.
"They all did something good," Snell said of his roster.
