EWEN - Ewen-Trout Creek's bid to advance in its district tournament fell short Wednesday, as Wakefield-Marenisco beat them, 41-35, in a Class D?semifinal.
"They were two bank-shot threes better than us tonight," E-TC coach Brad Besonen said.
The two bank shots Besonen referred to came from W-M's Collin Gagnon. The first was from beyond half-court at the end of the third quarter, which put the Cardinals up 29-22 going to the fourth.
The other busted up an E-TC rally in the middle of the fourth quarter. Gagnon finished with a game-high 23 points.
Offensively, E-TC (4-17)?was unable to get much going until late.
"The shooting was just horrendous tonight. Our young guards that were shooting well from the perimeter the last two weeks really had some first district game jitters," Besonen said.
Lane Brown, who scored 14, was the only Panther to score in double digits.
