To the editor:
Each March, the National Athletic Trainers Association celebrates "Athletic Training Month." As an athletic trainer at Aspirus Keweenaw, this year I would like to celebrate all those whose help makes my job more successful:
Gary Guisfredi and Sean Jacques, the athletic directors at Lake Linden and Calumet schools who make sure I have the schedules (and changes) for practices and games that need coverage. They also make sure, along with their facilities crew that the playing areas are well maintained and ready for competition.
The crew at the Calumet Colosseum and especially Paul Lehto for the new first aid room at ice level at the rink. Having a room with such easy ice access makes evaluating injuries safer and faster.
Jerry Louma, MD from Aspirus Keweenaw, who coordinates the medical coverage so that we have a member of the medical staff on the sidelines for all home hockey and varsity football games. Thanks of course go to all the members of the medical staff who volunteer to cover those games.
Jen Witting, ATC, my assistant who helps insure we have all home games covered at both schools. This has been a challenging year due to the weather and her flexibility has made the coverage seamless.
The Rehab staff at Outpatient Therapies for helping to get all the athletes back out on the field.
Thank you for all your help.
