K of C event was a big success
To the editor:
The Calumet Council of the Knights of Columbus held their annual Soup and Sandwich Fundraiser at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Calumet on 23 March 2014. We would like to recognize the individuals and organizations that made it a success. We are indebted to all of the Knights and their families who put in long hours and hard work to pull it all together. Knights and families sold tickets, solicited community support, arranged advertising, baked a variety of items for a bake sale, prepared and served homemade soups and served handmade sub sandwiches. The following organizations' generous support contributed to our success: Applebee's; Bambu Asian Cuisine; The Basket Corner of Laurium; Burger King of Calumet; Carmelitas; Connie's Kitchen; Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home; Gitzen Company Wholesalers; Hancock Bottling; The Hut Inn; Louie's Fresh Markets of Calumet; McDonalds of Houghton; Michigan House Caf; Pat's Foods; Pepsi Cola of Houghton; Peterlin Brothers Company, Inc.; Pizza Works of Calumet; Subway of Calumet; Toni's Country Kitchen; and Wal-Mart.
The greatest thanks go to those who purchased tickets, attended the lunch and supported the bake sale with their purchases. However, the true winners in this event will be the local charities that the Calumet Council will be supporting this coming year because of the generosity of our community.
