Getting a break, from the wait

A long line of motorists wait for the flagman to give them the go-ahead Friday morning on M-26 in Ripley. Construction on M-26 has reduced the well-traveled roadway to a single lane for about a half-mile creating the need for a flagman. There is good news for the holiday weekend however. The Michigan Department of Transportation said construction work has been suspended until 6 a.m. Tuesday. MDOT reports M-26 will have two lanes open between the Portage Lake Lift Bridge and Dollar Bay with a temporary roadway.
