FERNDALE, Michigan - Rebecca (Becky) Jurmu, of Ferndale, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at the University of Michigan Hospital following a lengthy battle with IPF.
She was born on February 7, 1952, in Highland Park, to Paul and Martha Jurmu. She graduated from Berkley High School in 1970. Becky married Rick Sutton who, despite a divorce, maintained a strong friendship. Rick provided companionship and emotional support throughout her illness. She was also married to Michael McCatty who offered her additional support and care in her final months.
Becky worked as an account management clerk for over 30 years, making numerous friends, many of whom gave their time and love in those final months. She enjoyed time with family and friends sharing her fun loving spirit. She was an avid Detroit Red Wings and Tigers fan, even watching them from her hospital bed. She loved her trips to bingo and traveling to the U.P. to visit her extended family.
Preceding her in death are her parents; sister, Donna; and brothers, Timothy and Mark.
Surviving are her brothers, Paul (Joanie) and John; her sisters, Ruth, Anne (Doug Morin) and identical twins, Deborah and Mardi (Brendan O'Brien); as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.
The family would love for everyone to join them for a celebration of Becky's life on Saturday, June 7 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Sawyer Fuller Funeral Home, 2125 12 mile Road, Berkley (two blocks west of Woodward).
