CALUMET - Marilyn Joy Aaron, 63, a resident of Calumet, passed at her home on June 1, 2014.
She was born on October 29, 1950, in Hancock, daughter of the late Carl and Cecile (Whinnen) Mertz. Marilyn attended Hancock High School.
Marilyn was employed at the Pamida/Shopko stores in Houghton and Calumet, recently receiving her 30 year award.
Marilyn enjoyed playing games on her computer, crocheting and sewing. She loved spending time with her grandkids and they loved the time just as much as she did. If you knew Marilyn at all you know just how much she loved the color purple.
Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Brian; brothers, Chuckie, Glenn, and Fred; sister, Sherry Congdon; aunts, Charlotte and Helen; and special friend, Bill Weijola.
She loved her beloved dogs, Charcoal and Snowball who will be greatly missed.
Surviving are daughter, Kim (David) Kaura of Allouez; son, Mike (Janet) Weijola of Houghton; sisters, Nancy (Allen) Beaudoin of Hubbell, Tammy (Dan) Malburg of Watervilt, Michigan and Carol Waisanen of Houghton; brothers, Edward Mertz of South Range, David (Lori) Mertz of Wyoming, Michigan; grandchildren, Ryan Kaura, D.J. Kaura, Jessica and Chuck Schlaud, Adam and Nicole Johnson, Emily and Kirk Kunnen, Alysse and Jared McVey and Reed Johnson; four great-grandchildren; cousin, Jerry (Peggy) Covill of Littleton, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 5, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home with Pastor David Weber to officiate.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home.
