She also served as Portage Township Treasurer for a short time. She stressed the importance of education to her children, and she was proud of the fact that they all graduated from college.
In 1996 her husband Joe passed away suddenly. She married Steve Butina on July 24, 1999. Bea was very active and she always kept herself busy. Bea also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she traveled frequently to visit them. Bea had many good friends in the area.
