HOUGHTON - Cole Gregorie and Carter Crouch combined on a no-hitter for Loading Zone II in a 17-1 Keweenaw Little League Major (age 11-12) baseball victory over Lassila Insurance Wednesday night.
Gregorie went 3 2/3 innings in the run-rule shortened game before hitting his pitch count. Crouch fanned the last batter to complete the no-hitter.
Loading Zone scored 11 times in the fourth to end the game.
Gregorie had three hits and two RBIs for the winners, while Nick Djerf and Blair Provost also had a pair of hits.
Copper World stopped 41 Lumber 6-2 behind a complete game from Brevin Anttila.
Both teams scored all their runs in the third inning, but J. Peltier Construction had five and REL, Inc. two in their interleague contest.
Isaiah Little's RBI groundout started the scoring in the top of the inning for JPC and was followed by an RBI triple from Taylor Gardner, and an RBI single from Ethan Jarvela. Isaac Cleary reached on an error and later scored on a wild pitch.
REL replied with Scott Loukus' RBI double and a bases-loaded walk from Landon Johnson.
Gardner went five strong innings (three hits, 10 Ks, four walks) for the win and Christian Hocking had a pair of hits for the winners.
For REL, Scott Loukus, Dean Loukus and Lincoln Beiring all doubled.
In Minor softball, Aspirus Keweenaw defeated Kevin's Self Storage 8-3 behind 14 strikeouts from winning pitcher Isabelle Cleary. Madisyn Holombo had a pair of big hits for Aspirus. Kiersten Dennis had a solid outing with seven strikeouts in defeat for Kevin's.
