HOUGHTON - It's summertime and the fundraisers are rolling, including for Omega House hospice.
Carol Pfefferkorn, Omega House events coordinator, said the eighth annual Summertime and the Livin' Is Easy concert will take place at 7 p.m. July 15 at Sts. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church on Madeleine Street in Houghton.
"It's a very popular summertime event," she said.
There will be up to 25 performers at the event, Pfefferkorn said, with most of them in musical groups.
Although there is no charge for the event, Pfeferkorn said a $10 donation is asked for, with some people giving even more.
"We always get twenty-dollar bills," she said.
The concert isn't the biggest fundraiser of the year for Omega House, but Pfefferkorn said it's still important.
"We usually get a couple thousand dollars for this."
Lara Neves, concert organizer, said concert performers include the Maple Sugar Folk and Noteworthy. Local jazz guitarist Steve Jones is scheduled to appear, also.
"It's mostly a vocal recital," she said.
Pfefferkorn said the idea for the concert fundraiser came from Omega House volunteer Ruth Robertson. The number of artists, most of whom are local, has increased over the years.
"It's grown," she said.
