July 18, 2014
The Daily Mining Gazette
The team of Nancy Osier, left, and Paulette Schwartz of Ontonagon shot a 2-under par 70 for a one-shot win at the recent Portage Lake Golf Course Women's Scramble. They edged Houghton County golfers Zoe Woodworth (Calumet) and Taylor Kaurala (Portage Lake) and the mother-daughter team of Deb and Angela Young. Osier, paired with Cathy Shamion, won the event in 2013.
Other flight winners included PLGC members Kristie Vlahos and Kim Lorenzetti, who won the first flight with a 78, and second-flight winners Barb Anderson and Maria Durham with an 84.
PLGC will host a couples tournament Saturday, a junior tournament July 28 and a senior scramble Aug. 6. For more details, call 487-2641.
