To the editor:
What do I mean by my headline? For too long politicians and pseudo charities have been disturbing our peace with obnoxious phone calls.
How can we stop this travesty? I propose that everyone who receives a telemarketing or robocall immediately phone their United States congress person and senator - each and every time that they receive a call - and tell them that they will continue to call until our legislators put a stop to this nonsense by amending the National Do Not Call Registry legislation to include ALL unsolicited telemarketing calls and by providing sufficient funding for the Federal Trade Commission to prosecute those who violate the Do Not Call Registry list.
If you put a "No Trespassing" sign on your lawn, anyone who enters your property without permission can be prosecuted. But anyone with the money to purchase robocall technology can trespass into the living rooms and bedrooms of hundreds of thousands of homes every minute of every day.
Our very own politicians and political parties are the greatest abusers of this technology. They think that they have the right to use the telephone service that we pay for. It is time to for all of us to stand tall and shout in unison, "We are mad as hell and we won't take it anymore!!"
