BOIS BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — The Coast Guard says a 50-year-old man has died while scuba diving off Bois Blanc (boyz blank) Island in northern Lake Huron.

Petty Officer 3rd Class Christopher Yaw tells TV station WPBN-WTOM ( ) that the man was about 15 minutes into his dive Sunday afternoon when he got in trouble. Yaw says the man was about 160 feet below the surface.

The island is part of Mackinac (MAK'-in-aw) County's Bois Blanc Township.

Yaw says the man's crew brought him to the surface, unconscious and barely breathing. Yaw says the man then went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at Cheboygan Memorial Hospital.

The man's name and the nature of the problem weren't immediately reported.
