Nobody really cares too much about your opinion on society, when you live in the middle of nowhere and haven't been anywhere in probably 40 years. The Keweenaw isn't a great place to form an opinion on CURRENT society. This isn't 1946, grandpa. The internet and Glenn Beck are not your gateway to black people, or gateway to Muslims. You've probably never even met a black person, or a Muslim. You probably have been sitting at home for the past 40 years, roaming the streets of Houghton looking for some blank-staring person to talk to about your unsubstantiated opinions. I'm sick of living here listening to people that sound identical to Glenn Beck. Posted 333 days ago. upsailorHoskin is quite a clueless fella to believe that those of us who choose to live in the Keweenaw are "fruitcakes", or somehow ill-informed on political and social issues. Afterall, what other area of the country with a similar population has two respected universities that are very popular with scholars and professors from around the world? The fact is, the Copper Country has some of the best public schools in the state and our graduation rates are among the highest in the country. Overall, I'd say the residents of the Keweenaw are among the best educated, well-read and well-informed folks in the state, if not the nation. So wise up Hoskin and go spread your small-minded, ill-informed, snobbish, nonsense somewhere else. Posted 341 days ago.
