Houghton sweeps Jeffers

JEFFERS – The Houghton Gremlins earned a softball doubleheader sweep over the Jeffers Jets Thursday, winning 13-1 and 15-0.

In the two games combined, Houghton manufactured 24 hits. In Game 1, Alix Gaffney pace the Houghton offense with three hits and four RBIs. Colleen Toorongian was the winning pitcher and allowed no hits or walks over 3 innings and struck out six.

In the other game, Houghton got two hits from Jada Markham, Anita Magyar and Andra Campbell, while Anna Gaffney and Campbell each drove in two runs.

Bekah Goodreau picked up the win on the mound, pitching 4 2/3 innings and allowing one run on six hits, no walks, while striking out five.

Up next, Houghton travels to Lake Linden-Hubbell on Monday; Jeffers hosts Baraga on the same day.
