Miners upset Wolverine

KEARSARGE – The Copper Country Miners (Library) upset the top team in the Twilight League, defeating Wolverine-Orbit 2-1 in Kearsarge on Thursday.

The winners (2-6) scored its runs in the second inning, with Alan Jurmu and Tanner Givens reaching on singles, and then Tyler Cleary and Hunter Kero scoring them, with Cleary and Kero each recording RBI singles for a 2-0 lead.

Wolverine (7-2) scored its lone run in the fifth on an Alex Van Wagner RBI single to score Coy Budweg. Wolvering would go on to load the bases with no one out, but Miners’ pitcher Bryce Turner got a strikeout and induced two flyouts to preserve the lead.

Turner pitched a complete game and struck out five while allowing just four hits.
