Shamion and Dickow win PLGC Women’s Scramble

HOUGHTON – The team of Cathy Shamion of Wakefield and Jane Dickow from Ironwood, shot a three-under 69 to win the Portage Lake Golf Course Women’s Scramble Tuesday (July 12).

Maren Rouleau from Hancock and her mother Kathy Penegor took second place, two shots back with a score of 71. Finishing in third was the team of Karen Plaiser and Deb Roberts from Ishpeming.

Defending Champs Michelle Miller and Holly Rintala did not pair up to defend their title this year.

First flight winners were Vickie Sargent and Mechele Stempihar, from Bessemer, with a 77. Julie Maroste and Emily Prehoda from Portage Lake were second with a score of 78, while Shari Stockero and Melissa Vertin from Portage Lake finished third in the First flight.

Other winners were:

Second flight: First Place – Rose and Lisa Anderson from Chassell, Second Place – Jackie Darnell and Doncie Richards from Lake Linden, Third Place – Ruth Rynanen and Melissa Stein from Portage Lake.

Third flight: First Place – Mary Mattson and Jane Rowe, Second Place – Anne Warrington and Barb Rossi, Third Place – Shelly Farrey and her mother Nona Ruohonen. Fourth Place- Kaaren Cooper and Sarah Baratono.

Fourth flight: First Place – Carol Helminen and Barb Kangas from Portage Lake, Second Place – Julie Dubala and Jean Rilei from Calumet, Third Place – Pam Hannon and Pattie Milde from Portage Lake.

The next tournaments hosted by PLGC will be a Couples Tournament Saturday, July 23, a UPGA Junior Tournament scheduled for Monday, July 25 and a Senior Scramble on Wednesday, August 3.
