Lakes and Panthers dominate Copper Mountain All-Conference

LAKE LINDEN – The Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes won the Copper Mountain Conference title with an 8-0 regular season. On Friday, they had five girls named to the All-Conference teams.

The Lakes were named Team of the Year. Head coach Maureen Schick shared the Coach of the Year honors with Katelyn Michaels of Chassell.

Lake Linden’s Alexa Destampe earned Most Valuable Player honors and was named to the First Team along with teammate Laura Lyons.

Chassell’s Kate Halonen and Julia Nordstrom also made First Team along with Baraga’s Brooklyn Fish and Wakefield/Marenisco’s Rachel Obradovich.

Joslynn Perala of the Lakes earned Defensive Player of the Year as well as Second Team honors along with teammate Erin Seppala.

Baraga’s Lacey Sterbenz and Ontonagon’s Taylor Saari were also named to the Second Team along with Bessemer’s Allyson Metas and Wakefield/Marenisco’s Darienne Korpi.

Lake Linden’s Maija Codere, Chassell’s Sydney Danison, Ewen-Trout Creek’s Elise Besonen, and Bessemer’s Rachel Emery all earned Honorable Mention.
