HANCOCK — The Hancock Bulldogs got out to a fast start en route to beating the Ewen-Trout Creek Panthers 53-50 Thursday in Ewen.

Hancock jumped out to an 11-0 lead and held E-TC scoreless for the first six minutes of the game. Chad Raasio led the Bulldogs with 15 points.

“We looked nervous and tight,” E-TC head coach Brad Besonen said. “They did a good job of taking Jake (Witt) away — especially 10 feet and in. Mike McParlan was on his back, Reece Anderson fronted and Raasio was shading on him.”

Witt was limited to just nine points — but did manage 16 rebounds — while Austin Berglund picked up the slack by scoring a game-high 19 points. Ryan Driesenga chipped in with 15 points for the Panthers.

Down three with 10 seconds left, E-TC had a chance to tie, but the 3 from the corner was no good.

Up next, E-TC (1-1) travels to Calumet on monday; Hancock (2-0) hosts Lake Linden-Hubbell on the same day.
