Houghton softball swept by Ishpeming

HOUGHTON — The Houghton Gremlins dropped both games of a softball doubleheader to the Ishpeming Hematites, falling 8-2 and 15-12 Tuesday in Houghton.

Errors doomed Houghton in the opener, as six miscues led to seven unearned runs for Ishpeming. Houghton’s Josie Connors pitched all seven innings and allowed the one earned run on five hits and five walks to go along with five strikeouts.

Houghton was limited to just three hits, and Harlee Froberg had two of those, including an RBI.

The Gremlins tallied 10 hits in Game 2, with Froberg recording three hits and Cassidy Becia and Andra Campbell each had two hits.

Ishpeming took advantage of three Houghton errors to score eight unearned runs, while the Hematites had six errors of their own, resulting in seven unearned runs for Houghton.
