Calumet gets no-hit against Gladstone

NEGAUNEE — The Calumet Copper Kings failed to register a hit against Gladstone’s Jared Crow and fell 3-0 to the Braves in a baseball district semifinal in Negaunee.

Gladstone went on to beat the Negaunee Miners 13-3 in the district championship for the Braves’ fourth consecutive district title.

Calumet’s Robert Hill was nearly as efficient on the mound, surrendering just two hits.

Gladstone’s Tyson Seymour started the fourth with a single before stealing second and going to third on a wild pitch. Seymour would steal home when Cooper Cavadeas intentionally got caught in a rundown off first, allowing Seymour to score the first run.

Gladstone added two more unearned runs in the sixth inning after Cavadeas kept the inning alive by reaching first on a dropped third strike.

Following a walk, Crow’s fly ball was dropped in left field, allowing the unearned runs to score.
