Jeffers hockey surges to 3-0

HOUGHTON — Hunter Therrian and Jackson Rocchi each netted two goals as Jeffers defeated Negaunee 6-2 at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena on Tuesday night.

Michael Johnson also scored, and Dominic Nettell added an empty-net goal as time expired.

Ander Sorensen and Peyton Anderson scored for Negaunee.

With the win, the Jets improve to 3-0 on the season.

“We are coming along, and getting better with each game that we play,” coach Pat Nettell said. “Lots of positives have come out of the first three games, and the team is starting to mesh together.  We are building some confidence, and we came to play tonight.  We wanted to jump on them quickly, and take control of the game.  The guys did that, and we had solid effort overall and many got involved and on the scoresheet.”

Rocchi, Therrian, Dylan Nettell, Clay Larson, Brandon Lavigne and Dominic Nettell all contributed assists in the win. In goal, Noah Nettell had 13 saves.

Nolan Corwin had 29 saves for Negaunee.

Next up, Jeffers will hit the road and play Kingsford on Thursday.

“They will be a great test for us, and they have several players who can really play,” Pat Nettell said. “The Flivvers are a very strong team, and we know that our next test will show us where we really stand.  It will be a huge LSC matchup for us, and we will hope to keep our season going as it has through the first three games.”
