Finlandia women fall to Northwestern 60-55
ST. PAUL, Minn. – It was a flurry of action as the Finlandia University women’s basketball team (5-17) fell 60-55 to Northwestern (Minn.) (11-8), Saturday afternoon at the Ericksen Center.
“Proud of this group today. Really competed, played good smart defense,”said head coach John Motherwell. “It’s inevitable you’ll have a couple lapses with the amount of minutes these kids are playing. Molly (Berg) was super, seven assists two turnover and she did it playing back to back 40 minute games in under 24 hours. That is impressive.
Northwestern tried to put Finlandia away, up 47-37 with 8:58 left in the game. Once again the Lions rallied.
For Finlandia, Julia Daavettila had 24 points nine rebounds and hit five triples while senior Kelsie Richards had 14 points, 15 rebounds.
